With TPx’s messaging system, you can upload custom greetings and on-hold music to your Announcement Repository in WAV or WMA format. However, the system expects to receive a file with certain properties.
For .WAV files:
- 8 or 16 kHz audio sample rate
- 8 or 16 bit mono
- U-law, A-law, or PCM audio encoding codec
For .WMA files:
- 8 or 16 kHz audio sample rate
- 16 bit mono
- U-law, A-law, or PCM audio encoding codec
Maximum audio length for both .WAV and .WMA files:
- 2 minutes for a Voice Messaging greeting and Custom Ringback
- 10 seconds for a user’s personalized name in the Voice Portal
- 10 minutes for Music on Hold
- 5 minutes for all other services
The system performs several safety checks when you submit a file to be uploaded. It will reject the file if it is not built with the correct properties.
We recommend using a program called Audacity, which is available as a free download. (Note that TPx does not provide technical support for Audacity. You can get support directly from Audacity or from online resources.) Here are instructions for exporting a file from Audacity which meets TPx’s specifications.
