Dark Side of UCx with Webex

Whether you want to give your eyes a rest or are simply drawn to its aesthetic, you may be tempted to go to the dark side of UCx with Webex. If you feel a force being awakened within you, give the dark mode a try, read on for details about what it is, the benefits, and how to enable it.

What Is Dark Mode?

Dark mode is a setting that changes your user interface by putting light-colored text against black or dark background screen features. It has several pseudonyms, such as:

  • Light-on-dark
  • Dark theme
  • Night mode

When you use dark mode, you significantly reduce the amount of light your screen emits. It can be set up globally across all apps on a certain device, such as an iPhone or laptop, or only on certain apps, like UCx with Webex.

Because dark mode changes the color dynamics of the user’s screen, their experience is significantly different. For some people, dark mode’s aesthetic benefits are enough to make it appealing. Others are drawn to dark mode because it may offer legitimate health benefits.

For example, many users are concerned about excessive exposure to the blue light emitted from computer screens. Too much exposure to blue light has been shown to increase the rate at which your retina deteriorates. It has also been linked to the release of dangerous molecules in the photoreceptor cells in the eye. Further, using blue light at nighttime has been connected to sleep problems.

The Benefits of Dark Mode

Along with giving your app a slick look, dark mode has interesting fringe benefits.

Use in a Darker Room Without Disturbing Others

You can use dark mode without grabbing unwanted attention to yourself or your screen. For example, if you’re in a public place, such as a movie theater, you can simply switch on dark mode if you need to quickly look something up or check an email or text.

Save Battery Power

Because dark mode can emit less light, it may be able to conserve battery power for many users. This means you may not have to carry around a portable power source or constantly be on the lookout for a place to charge up. It also frees you up to spend more power on apps that tend to draw more juice, such as ones that depend on GPS data.

Cut Down on Blue Light Exposure for Health Benefits and a Good Night’s Sleep

As discussed above, excessive blue light may cause significant health issues, ranging from eye problems to trouble sleeping. Because dark mode cuts back on the amount of blue light you get exposed to, you can use it to avoid potential eye problems, metabolic issues, and sleep problems.

How to Enable Dark Mode on UCx With Webex

You can enable dark mode on UCx with Webex by taking the following two steps:

  1. Select your profile picture and then Preferences > Appearance (Mac); Settings > Appearance (Windows); Settings > General > Theme (iOS and Android).
  2. Choose the system theme you want either dark or light mode. It’s as simple as that!
